The Sunday Times yesterday released report stating that a 23 year old man from Vereeniging has been names as one of the first South Africans to have died in Syria, after apparently joining ISIS. Our reporters say that South African state security officials have not confirmed this yet. This man left his home in Roshnee two years ago and never returned.
Now as we know, on Friday, we heard a national unified khutbah against ISIS. It comes after a national task team was formed to tackle the growing concern of recruitment activity in SA. How is this task team going to stem the tide of radicalisation in SA?
