News in yesterday that Egyptian president Abdul Fatah el-Sisi’s visit to SA has been cancelled has been met with a positive reaction from local activists. But I believe a protest being held today in Johannesburg against the Sisi regime and in response to the arrest and incarceration of Sheikh Bassiouni in Egypt is still going ahead. Sheik Bassiouni is a well-known Islamic Scholar and humanitarian in the Gauteng area and has been detained in Egypt’s Tora Prison for the past six months.
