One of the major news stories this past week has been Parliament’s in loco inspection of the President Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla homestead in KwaZulu-Natal. You’ll recall that journalists were only allowed access to the section of the property which housed 21 chalets for bodyguards and soldiers; and where the clinic and the helicopter landing pad were situated – until the SA National Editors Forum raised their voices. So yesterday, the media was also allowed into the president’s compound for an official tour and this became a trending topic on twitter.
