Debate around the Dagga Bill continues

There’s still not much consensus around the Medical Innovation Bill, which advocates for the legalisation of cannabis for medical purposes. The Medical Innovation Bill was introduced by the late IFP MP Mario Oriani-Ambrosini, who made use of cannabis oil while suffering from end-stage lung cancer.
The Central Drug Authority made submissions to Parliament’s portfolio committee on health this week, saying as it stands, the Medical Innovation Bill was “confusing”. A while back, we also heard the Medical Research Council saying it cannot support the bill in its present form.
