On the morning of the 21st of August 1969, a fire engulfed the southeastern wing of the Al-Aqsa mosque. The perpetrator, who was responsible for the destruction of this 1000 year old historic mimbar was an Australian tourist, Dennis Michael Rohan, who was arrested the following day. He claimed to be the Lord's emmisary, following a divine instruction, and was found mentally ill. The burning of Al-Aqsa mosque will be commemorated on Thursday at 11am. We chat now to the president of the Muslim Judicial council, Moulana Igshaan Hendricks about the commemoration.
