The Muslim Youth Movement Gender Desk will commemorate and celebrate the life of the late Shamima Shaikh (www.shams.za.org), South Africa's most prominent Muslim gender rights' activists, who, through her commitment to Islam, believed it imperative to speak out and act against all kinds of injustices, especially racial and gender discrimination. The annual lecture takes place in Durban this weekend.
