He was one of the most followed journalists reporting on the Gaza massacre last year because of his eye-witnessing accounts of what was happening on the ground which is documented in his first book, Shell-Shocked. In 2008, Omer was awarded the 2007 Martha Gellhorn Prize for Journalism. He participated in the Russell Tribunal in Belgium last year, where his attendance was only made possible by using an alternate passport to his Palestinian one....
