The recent release of the 2015 SA Crime Statistics has cast a dim light on our country with the murder rate increasing by over 14%. The crime rate in the Western Cape is particularly concerning as the murder rate in the province ranks eight times higher than the global average. The problem doesn't stop there and has spared the argument from Western Cape Provincial Government blaming the SA Police Service for not delivering on its national policing mandate to fill the over 2000 SAPS vacant posts in the Western Cape. The policing gets even more problematic with SAPS no being undecided on a replacement for the suspended Provincial Chief, Arno Lamoer
