The City had been alerted to an employment scam after residents in the community pitched for their first day of work at the Westridge Clinic in Mitchells Plain. Residents had reportedly been scammed by a suspect pretending to be an official recruiter for the Health Department. Residents allegedly had to deposit a R150 in a bank account and subsequently received an SMS notification confirming their employment.
