Mr. Shauket A. Fakie, B.Com, B.Compt, C.A(SA), served as the Group Chief Business Risk Officer at MTN Group Limited until February 2015. Mr. Fakie served as the Head of Group Risk and Internal Audit at MTN Group Ltd. since 2007. Mr. Fakie has over 30 years experience in accounting, auditing, consulting and advisory work. Since 1999, he was an Auditor-General of South Africa for a seven-year term which ended in November 2006. He served as Chairperson of the UN Panel of External Auditors and Secretary General for the Auditor's General Association in the African Continent. Mr. Fakie served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Absa Bank Limited. since January 1, 2008. He served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Absa Group Ltd. (AKA Barclays Africa Group Limited) from January 1, 2008 to May 3, 2013. He serves as a director on several MTN subsidiary companies in Africa. He serves as a Member of Audit Committee at Eskom Holdings Limited. Mr. Fakie is a member of the following professional bodies: the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors; the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants; the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Public Finance and Audit. He serves on the boards of various companies and the executive committees of several community and non-profit organisations. Mr. Fakie was a member of the RDP Sub-Committee at the Western Cape Society of Chartered Accountants and the Education Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
