MTN chief executive officer, Sifiso Dabengwa, has resigned with immediate effect. The announcement was made to shareholders this morning. The move follows a R73-billion fine from the Nigerian communication authorities for failing to disconnect 5.1 million subscribers. Former MTN Group CEO and current non-executive chairman Phuthuma Nhleko has agreed to take on an executive role until Dabengwa is replaced.
