Teachers Frustrated With ANAS

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has called on the Department of Basic Education (DBE) to take disciplinary action against 400 000 teachers for refusing to implement Annual National Assessment (ANA) tests. Five unions, including the South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) and National Professional Teachers' Organisation of South Africa (Naptosa), have said their members will not administer the assessments which began yesterday. The Department says schools have been given the flexibility to administer the tests anytime between Thursday and next Friday.
