Hassan Al Turabi died of a heart attack last week in Kharthoum at the age of 84. Turabi was known for promoting a radical version of Islamism, with sharia, or Islamic, law applied strictly. He also invited Osama bin Laden accepted an invitation to live in Sudan, and the civil war against the largely non-Muslim southern Sudanese was intensified. A controvercial figure at best, Turabi could be seen as an instrumental figure of Sudan's situation now. Here to tell us more is....
