Isango Ensemble adaptation of Jonny Steinberg's a Man of Good Hope

Based on Jonny Steinberg’s book, the piece follows a young Somalian refugee heading to South Africa to seek new opportunities. Steinberg's book is an extraordinary odyssey of a child/young man and his journey through Africa ending in the USA as a refugee. However, it is much more than one man’s story; it deals with many issues of Africa and violence and of course the world’s greatest present crisis – the refugee situation. Although the production will be South African in its specifics and played by people from the very townships the story is universal in its exploration of the “other” and our sense of place and identity.
