Face to Face with Sheikh Abdul Salaam Zaeef

Sheikh Abdul Salaam Zaeef was the Ambassador for the Afghanistan Taliban government in 1999. When 9/11 happened he released a press release condemning the attack and likening it to the attack on Pearl Harbour. He was captured in Pakistan in 2001 and rendered to Guantanamo Bay where he served for four years without charge or trial and under what can only be described as absurd and cruel circumstances in his book Ambassador POW. The Sheikh was released in 2005 without charge, to the Yemen where he now resides. He is escorted today by Asim Qureshi, the Research Director at CAGE, who specialises in investigations into the impact of counter-terrorism practices worldwide.
