Judge Nicoline Janse van Nieuwenhuizen has dismissed the State's application for leave to appeal the parole of Chris Hani’s killer. Polish assassin Janusz Walus has spent nearly 23 years in prison for murdering the South African Communist Party (SACP) leader outside his Boksburg home. The judge dismissed the appeal, saying it would not have a reasonable prospect of success and that the State had not provided compelling reasons for the appeal to be heard.
