The launch of the History project took off Yesterday at the Tshisimana centre in Mowbray. The project aims to bring allow youth and students to ponder on the Meaning of 1976 Uprising for Activists in the present. Bringing together young activists from the emergent student movement in universities and activists from the 1976 generation, the seminar aims to bring to the fore the Cape Town experience of the Uprising, especially highlighting non-racial organising among Coloured and African youths. To give us some perspective on the importance of the history in relation to our present context we are joined by Noor Nieftagodien who conducted a history workshop on the politics of History as part of the history project. The workshop dealt with the roots of public history, different historical outputs and disseminating history.
