With reality of drought impacting negatively on the South African economy, there is a growing need to find solutions to avoid rising food prices. At the recent Drought Dialogue hosted by The Provincial Department of Agriculture [DoA] and the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning [DEA/DP] Representatives of the PHA Food & Farming Campaign – from the Philippi Horticultural Area were in attendance at the event and voiced their concerns about vegetable production and aquifer protection being excluded in the existing anti-drought strategy .
