Brazil declared in its official bid for the Olympic Games, which opened on Friday, that Rio's air quality was "within the limits recommended by the World Health Organization." but Rio de Janeiro's air is dirtier and deadlier than portrayed by authorities and the Olympics' promised legacy of cleaner winds has not remotely been met, according to Reuters. Some have said that hosting the Olympics is a poor investment and In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is throwing its resources at has been called a disaster.
