Fees Must fall Reloaded - Possible fee Increase for 2017

Last week, organisations including universities and the treasury made their submissions to the Commission of Inquiry into Higher Education and Training into the possibility of Free Education. Since then, The Higher Education Department says there’s been no pronouncement on university fees for 2017 and it’s still engaging with stakeholders before making recommendations on the feasibility of free education in South Africa. But Universities across SA have been on high alert as The South African Union of Students said it plans to march to the country’s major financial institutions. They demand that financial institutions play a bigger role in the higher education sector after the Council on Higher Education recommended an across the board inflation-related fee increase for next year. Could we see more outbursts of Fees Must Fall protests and what more can be done...
