
Proposed parenting leave submission to extend leave for fathers

A brief on parenting leave was presented to Parliament last week by NGO Sonke Gender Justice (SGJ) as well as other organisations including COSATU and members of the public. If passed, the proposed amendments to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act would allow biological and adoptive fathers up to 10 days of leave as opposed to the 5 days currently in place.
