Now you may recall about a week ago the Saudi Government announced new visa fees. In light of South African economy already struggling due to inflation and rising food prices, the Visa Fees has upset the Muslim community, particularly those who are to perform Hajj or Umrah and are saving up money for journey. Concerns regarding the impact that the visa cost would have on those who are planning to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia cost have also been voiced by official travel bodies such as SAHUC, SATHOA, SAMTA and travel operators. With countries such as Morocco and The Egypt protesting against the Saudi Government and encouraging its citizens to boycott Umrah in a bid to persuade the Ministry of hajj to overturn the decision. In light of the proposed excessive Hajj and Umrah visa fees urgent meeting were held in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
