Emotional and psychological impact of gang violence on children
Loading player...
We again pick up on the topic of Lavender Hills shooting but focus on how children in the area and other high risk communities manage to cope with gang violence and crime. In recent weeks the public have voiced concerns with people taking to social media to speak out against the violence. In one post which I read, an educator had related her experience about the shootings and how pupils in her classroom had to lay low on the floor to safeguard themselves from possible stray bullets. She relates how one learner in a state of panic burst into tears and cried hysterically. To help us make sense of the psychological effects of violence on youth we chat to Zainab Kader, registered councillor
