Women’s Month - Gender-based Violence and Historical Trauma

Well the topic of gender violence has been discussed time and time again, and the issue remains a matter of public discourse following the recent cases of child murders, rape and femicide in South Africa.

While feminists and gender experts argue that’s the system of patriarchy that perpetuates gender violence, there are also justifications of political violence used to excuse and/or justify gender-based violence as well. South Africa is a country in deep denial about the causes of various phenomena such as gender-based violence.

Prof Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela has done extensive search on this topic. She joins us now. Prof Pumla is the
