Deaths in police custody continue to rise in South Africa. There have been 266 fatalities in the last financial year alone and thousands of cases are reported each year but only a percentage of them ever result in criminal charges according to media reports. Now the Independent Police Investigative Directorate tracks deaths in police custody, deaths as a result of police action, police shootings, rapes committed by police, complaints of torture or assault against police officers, and accusations of corruption within the police force.To tell us more we now speak to Mr Moses Dlamini, National Spokesman at the Independent Police Investigative Directorate
