History was made in BoKaap on Friday night as hundreds of Capetonians came out to support a call to protest gentrification and high municipal tariffs in the area. Bokaap residents want government to declare the area a national heritage site, to stop property developers from usurping land and property in the area. As you know, there has been protracted protest in the area, with youth drawing attention to the issue by burning tyres and blocking Wale and Rose street last week. Well what’s the way forward?
