Cape Town based University of the Western Cape PhD scholar, Shireen Mentor has been selected to attend, the 68th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, recognized as the most prestigious science gatherings in the world.
Mentor is one of only six South African female scientists nominated by the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSA) to attend the event in Germany between 24 to 28 July 2018.
At age 29, she is already a published scientist in prominent scientific journals, and is the first recipient of the coveted national Wyndham Prize from the Physiology Society of Southern Africa in 2014.
