As a result of the housing shortage in the province, the number of land and housing protest has increased in the past few months. Over a period of four months for this year alone, The City of Cape, the Anti-Land Invasion Unit removed 26,000 illegal structures.

The figure being nearly twice as much as cases in 2017, where 15,000 “illegal structures” were removed
