Police Committee to consider proposed firearms amnesty on 16 August 2018

Plans to reduce the circulation of firearms in South Africa might soon be realised if the proposed Firearms Amnesty is approved by the National Assembly.

The Portfolio Committee on Police is expected to formally consider a Firearms Amnesty request from the Minister on Police on 16 August 2018.
The process comes after the Minister of Police submitted a written requested to the Speaker of the National Assembly requesting that the Portfolio Committee on Police consider the matter.
