The Philippi Horticultural Area (PHA) campaign has voiced concerns over the recent update of the Municipal Spatial Development Framework (MSDF), claiming that the protection of the PHA as a Critical Natural Area (CNA) has not addressed the calls by the PHA against development in the area
Earlier this week the PHA presented comments to the Provincial Agricultural Standing Committee on the Indego Study which came out in April. The DA says the updated MSDF will automatically zone the PHA as a Critical Natural Area and prevent any further development on this unique agricultural land.
But let’s hear from the PHA campaigns Nazeer Sonday, spokesperson of the PHA campaign, an organisation consisting of concerned individuals that have been campaigning for the protection of the Aquifer in the Philippi Horticultural Area (PHA)
We also have Beverley Schäfer, MPP, Standing Committee Chairperson on Economic Opportunities, Tourism, and Agriculture DA Western Cape Spokesperson on Economic Opportunities, Tourism, and Agriculture
