The Climate-Change Saga Continues – another episode.
Climate scientists push for 1.5 degrees!
There’s another big pow-wow coming up in the Climate Change story on Monday. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – IPCC – is meeting in South Korea to review progress on the wide extent of things to do and things to say. There will be a lot of words – as soon as you mention “government” you know that’s going to happen. But there will be action coming out of this meeting, and it could be very positive.
Climate scientists from around the world will be putting a strong case to the IPCC administrators and policy-makers to set One-and-a-Half degrees Celsius (1.5o C) as the target for the year 2050. That’s a maximum increase in the average global atmospheric temperature of 1.5, one half-degree less than they were talking about ever since the IPCC began taking all this very seriously.
So is that one-half degree really important? You bet it is.
