Approximately 100 000 people have already benefited from The City of Cape Town free upgrade programme to replace aging prepaid electricity meters. This following the start of the campaign in 2015 in which more than 22 700 meters had been replaced.
This year a budgeted R34 million has been set aside for the voluntary replacement of nearly 13 000 old credit meters
