City files charges against CTMCA over alleged illegal occupation of Belhar Sport Field

The City of Cape Town has laid criminal charges against the Cape Town Minstrel Carnival Association ( CTMCA) . This following the alleged illegal occupation of the Belhar Sports Field by CTMCA over the weekend. Charges of trespassing and holding an illegal gathering in terms of the Gatherings Act have been filed against ( CTMCA).

Some 500 people, including children attended the alleged illegal event with no one being evicted by City law enforcement officers on the basis of the safety risks.
