175th commemoration of Emancipation Day

Whilst slave descendant communities across the Cape Flats will be celebrating on the 175th commemoration of Emancipation Day on 1 December, the Afrikaner community will be commemorating the 175th commemoration of the Great Trek to the North which was the curtain raiser or overture for the history of the Afrikaner nationalist movement.
