Gaza medical authorities appeal to South Africans for urgent assistance to deal with unprecedented leg amputation crisis

As we know, there have been weekly protests at the fence separating Gaza from the State of Israel since last March. Israeli forces have killed over 200 Palestinians in the territory and injured thousands of others. The protests have sought to raise awareness of living conditions in Gaza and to highlight the right of Palestinians to return to homes they were expelled from in 1948. Many many Palestinians have been shot, particularly in the limbs.
At the moment, the situation is so grave that the Ministry of Health in Occupied Gaza is now appealing to South African specialist medical personnel and NGOs to pitch in to help as hundreds of young Palestinians are at risk of limb amputation.
