
Department of Community Safety urges roll out of gov volunteers to relieve SAPS officers of admin duties

The Department of Community Safety in the Western Cape wants to deploy government volunteers to assist SAPS officers as Commissioners of Oaths in Mitchells Plain and Bonteheuwel. This comes after more 40 death were reported in the Mitchells Plain and the Bishop Lavis areas since the start of the year.
The pilot project would enable police officers to conduct crime patrols while government volunteers assist with administrative duties.
