
Mantashe's 2018 Mining Charter will be challenged in court

The Minerals Council South Africa has filed an application for judicial review challenging parts of the recently gazetted Mining Charter, the organisation adds that the decision to approach the courts was very reluctantly taken.
It has highlighted that clauses particularly around black ownership do not sufficiently recognize past deals.
