As we reported last week, the umrah season is in full swing and thousands of Capetonians are taking advantage of great umrah deals, without understanding what they are in for. Just this morning, our news team was confronted with several complaints about Gaironesa Foundation, an organization that provides subsidized packages to hujaaj and mu’tarmireen. Gaironesa Foundation however books through Lamies Travel, who does all the arrangements. One traveler we spoke to said all the pilgrims were called to a meeting yesterday and told they would need to pay R9000 per person before their departure date, as their subsidy was not covered. Gaironesa Foundation director Shaheed Stakala is unavailable for comment. VOC News editor Tasneem Adams spoke to Gamiem Toefy from Lamies Travel to find out the story…
