The South African Communist Party (SACP) will on today commemorate the 19th anniversary of the death of its former general secretary, Joe Slovo, at Avalon Cemetery in Soweto.
Slovo, who was Housing minister in the government of national unity, joined the SACP in 1942 and served on the African National Congress (ANC)'s National Executive Committee (NEC).
