Wits Law Clinic to fight fraudulent marriages in SA

On the breakfast show two years ago, we spoke about the concerning trend of fraudulent marriages in South Africa and the Department of Justice’s attempt to crackdown on these marriages. Now this week, it was revealed that five women are laying the groundwork for a class-action lawsuit against the Department of Home Affairs – because they have been victims of fraudulent marriages and the department has done little to assist them to get out of these marriages.

Prof Phillipa Kruger from the Wits Law Clinic has taken up the case. She joins us now ….
