There was certainly robust debate on various issues facing Muslim in South Africa context at the Mohammed 6th Foundation seminar held in Pretoria at the weekend. The seminar was themed “The common Religious Constants. The Foundation of the African Identity. Among the discussion were the exporting of Wahhabism, Sunni tassawuf in South Africa, extremism and the contentious Muslim marriage bill. To unpack the seminar further and share their critique of the event, is Dr Quraysha Sooliam from University of Pretoria and Shaykh Igsaan Taliep from IPSA University.
