A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT YESTERDAY - National police Minister Bheki Cele confirmed that South African Police Service members and the South African National Defence Force will be deployed to crime and gang-ridden communities in Cape Town. It follows calls by several community safety groups, and the public, for greater action from national government. Several areas have buckled under violence in recent months. These areas include Bonteheuwel, Delft, Hanover Park, Manenberg and Philippi East.
