
NGO call on government for funding to improve shelters

Vulnerable women and their children are not receiving adequate assistance at shelters that are poorly funded. This is a concern which the Western Cape Women's Shelter Movement (WCWSM) and the National Shelter Movement of South Africa (NSM) raised during a protest to Parliament. The group believes that services can be improved through funding and has demanded government step in to address the issue. Now protest comes after the Commission for Gender Equality released a report which investigated shelter fighting the scourge of gender-based violence (GBV)
