The Steve Biko Foundation has refuted claims that South African tycoon Johan Rupert had a "special relations" with Steve Biko. In his recently published book, "the Stellenbosch Mafia", author Pieter du Toit quotes Rupert has having had a special relationship with late struggle icon Steve Biko.
