Pro-Palestinian activists and film enthusiasts have came together to organise a local film festival, which casts the spotlight on the ongoing Palestinian occupation. The 'Eye on Palestine Boycott Barcode 729' film festival took place from the over the weekend at Masjidur Rawbie in Portlands, Mitchells Plain. The film festival, organised by The Islamic Network, The Film Club, Portlands masjid committee and endorsed by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions South Africa, is aimed at not only creating awareness on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict but also, educating Capetonians on the bit they can do to assist Palestinians. VOC reporter Raeesah Isaacs spoke to coordinator Fahri Hassen about how it went.
