Winemaker and owner of Paserene Wines, Martin Smith has taken an unusual route in wine making. He has written a crime novel and is using chapters of it as labels for his latest wine collection. Smith was winemaker at the much-lauded Vilafonté in Stellenbosch for seven years before he embarked on his own venture – Paserene, a small, family-run winery operated in partnership with Ndabe Mareda - to produce the highest-end luxury wines. Now he is taking storytelling and wine making to new levels with The Shiner Chronicles.
