A report by the Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services’ (Jics) for the period 2018/19 annual has revealed the achievements and challenges of the department of correctional services. This includes prison not have access to basic things such meals, sleeping facility and increased incidents of suicide. According to the The Western Cape was found to have the most overcrowded prisons, with Pollsmoor Medium B being particularly problematic at 200% capacity.
