In this week's Africa report, we look at Ethiopia and the statehood drive in referendum vote by the Sidama people, who make up approximately four percent of the country's more than 100 million population. The drive has gained fresh impetus after Abiy Ahmed became prime minister. In South Africa, tensions have been raging on between protesting asylum seekers and the UN High Commission for refugees. The protesters are demanding repatriation to safer countries. The issue has again put the country on the spotlight in how it handles its immigration policy.
