So it’s certainly been an interesting period for politics at a local government level. All the coalition governments in our metros have fallen apart. The ANC took back the City of Johannesburg, the UDM’s Mongameli Bobani was abruptly booted out as executive mayor in Nelson Mandela Bay, and Stevens Mokgalapa was deposed as mayor of Tshwane following an alleged sex scandal, corruption allegations and a water crisis.
