
KL Summit tackles issues facing Muslim world

Leaders from some of the world's Muslim-majority countries are meeting in Malaysia's capital over the next two days to address issues such as Islamophobia and poverty, with the organisers insisting the event is not meant to rival the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is presiding over the meeting with fellow heads of state, President Hassan Rouhani of Iran and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, amongst others.
But interestingly, Pakistan pulled out of the conference, over concerns it could "divide" the Muslim world. Pakistan's decision to withdraw came days after Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Riyadh for talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) on a range of issues. Khan’s decision has been widely criticised on social media.
